Hotel Welco Narita is an independently owned hotel (formerly Mercure Hotel Narita), and you can book rooms through most major OTA platforms like Agoda or Booking.com, or directly via their website.
Prices will vary by season, but you’re looking at an affordable ¥5,500 to ¥10,500 per night for a solo traveller.

🏠 Lobby & Check-In 🏠
Hotel Welco Narita’s lobby is impressively spacious, with a lounge area right by the entrance, and check-in counters a bit further inside by the elevators.
The check-in process was simple and frictionless. Once you receive your room keycard, make sure to grab a complimentary bottle of mineral water alongside some amenities & skincare products before heading up to your room.

🛏️ Double Room: Overview 🛏️
I’m travelling solo on this leg of the trip. And while I could’ve just booked their Standard Single Room (17m² / Single Bed), I decided to go for their Double Room as it was available for the same price that day.
At 22m², if you’re used to Japanese business-style hotels, the first thing you’ll notice is how absolutely massive the room feels! At almost double the space, you get significantly more breathing room, featuring not only the usual bed, workdesk and bathroom area, but also a lounge corner, closet, and plenty of floor space to walk around or lay out your luggage.
As an older establishment (formerly Mercure Hotel Narita), the room definitely shows its age in places. Despite that, it was still quite clean and comparable to most standard business hotels out there.
Some other room features before we dive into the specifics:
Air Conditioning: Operates on a central heating/cooling system controlled by the hotel, with each room having a control panel to adjust the fan speed. While completely fine during peak summer or winter, shoulder seasons (like early spring or autumn) can be tricky. If the weather swings warmer than usual while the hotel is in heating mode, you’ll need to crack open a window to cool the room down.
Flooring: Hotel Welco uses carpet floors in their rooms.
Wi-Fi: Good! Didn’t encounter any issues during my stay.
Stay Duration: Generous compared to many other hotels! Check-In time is at 2 P.M., while Check-Out time is at 11 A.M.

🛏️ Bed Area 🛏️
Featuring a Queen Bed (160cm x 200cm), you get a ton of sleeping space for solo travellers, and a spacious arrangement for two.
The mattress is on the firmer side. But with a top layer that’s still quite comfy, I had no issues sleeping on it whatsoever. (If anything, the larger bed really played a key role in getting a great night’s sleep)
Completing the bed setup, the pillows are also slightly firm, while the blankets are a comforter-style for an overall pleasant experience.
Extra pillows & blankets are located on the closet’s top shelf. These seem to be a different material from the standard ones, but I forgot to check them during my stay.

🛏️ Nightstand Area 🛏️
Beside the bed rests a nightstand with reading lights on both sides. This is also where you’ll find their central AC panel & light switches, a telephone, box of tissues, notepad, and a small card signed by the cleaning staff servicing the room that day.
Do note that unlike most modern Japanese business-style hotels, there are no bedside power outlets or USB ports to charge your phone. Not a dealbreaker as you can work around it, but definitely important to note.

💻 Table Area 💻
The table area is a relatively simple one, with a moderately-sized workspace, reading lights, and a chair.
And next to the workstation, you have a mini-fridge with some cups, mugs, and packets of green tea & coffee, along with a hairdryer and a smaller 26-inch TV.

🛏️ Lounge Corner 🛏️
As a larger room, you get a dedicated lounge corner featuring an armchair & coffee table positioned right by the window.
The view from my particular room wasn’t too bad at all. A good chunk of it is just the parking area, yes, but you can see both Skytown Narita and JR Narita Station, plus some local restaurants by the station intersection.

🏠 Closet Area 🏠
Also a rarity in smaller hotels, their Double Room features a dedicated closet area.
It’s nothing fancy – four clothes hangers, take-home slippers, shoehorn, and a bottle of antibacterial fabric spray – but always a welcome feature to have.

🛁 Bathroom Area 🛁
The classic Japanese hotel bathroom setup, though this one is noticeably more spacious than its business hotel counterparts!
The shower area features a shower head with two shower mounts, a slightly larger bathtub and bathtub spout. For toiletries, you get a trio of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner – specifically DHC’s Olive Green Clear line, just like another Narita hotel I stayed at!
And rounding out the area, a sink with an interestingly thick border, foaming hand soap, and an amenities tray with plastic cups, toothbrushes, and shower cap (more amenities at the lobby).
You also get two towel racks with body and hair towels, plus a Japanese-style toilet with electronic bidet.

🏠 Facilities Area 🏠
Over on the 4th floor, you’ll find an area by the elevators with a couple of microwaves and ice machines, alongside direct access to the hotel’s parking garage and laundromat (though I didn’t stop by during my stay.)

🏠 Around Hotel Welco Narita 🏠
Located right between JR Narita Station and Keisei-Narita Station, you have a good selection of places to visit around the hotel. From in-house dining options, local ramen shops & izakayas, McDonalds, and Naritasan Ramen Street about a minute away at Skytown Narita.
If you have a couple of hours to spare before heading to the airport or central Tokyo, the hotel is only a few minute’s walk from the start of the historic Naritasan Omotesando street, leading directly towards Naritasan Shinshoji Temple.
For a convenient late-night option, there’s a Lawson convenience store right across the street. As I missed out on a proper dinner due to my evening flight, I decided to stop by and grab some ready-to-eat items for an admittedly large meal… (Bento set, a Lawson & Nagasaki department store aji fry, some il FORNO del MIGNON croissants, 7-11’s chocolate rusk snacks, and a wafer ice cream bar – lots, I know…)

⭐VERDICT⭐
So how good is Hotel Welco Narita actually? A surprisingly solid choice! The hotel’s proximity to Narita Airport will be the #1 factor to why you’d book a stay here, but even setting that aside, my stay today was a very pleasant one!
The hotel does show its age in some areas (notably the central air conditioning and no bedside power outlet), but it’s still quite clean with no real complaints other than that. Might not be my ideal choice for multi-day stays, but as a one-night transit stop, I’ll gladly stay here again!

🚗 Getting to/from Narita Airport or Tokyo 🚗
Hotel Welco Narita is conveniently located right between Keisei-Narita and JR Narita Station.
From Keisei-Narita Station (Keisei Line), head out via the West Exit and you’ll find Hotel Welco Narita right around the corner at a quick 2-minute walk.
Travel times to/from the hotel from Narita Airport (Terminals 1,2,3) via the Keisei Line:
Terminal 2&3: 1 station (6 minutes / ¥280)
Terminal 1: 2 stations (9 minutes / ¥280)
From JR Narita Station (Narita Line), head out via the East Exit, and the hotel is a walk across the main square at a slightly longer 4-minute walk.
Travel times to/from the hotel from Narita Airport (Terminals 1,2,3) via the Narita Line:
Terminal 2&3: 1 station (9 minutes / ¥210)
Terminal 1: 2 stations (12 minutes / ¥260)
