🎊 Store Decor 🎊

As part of the collaboration, Sushiro’s Central World and The Mall Bangkae stores have been fitted with all sorts of Pokémon elements: from character standees, TCG displays, and collab art on the walls and tables.

__________
📋 Collaboration Menu & Event Details 📋
Available at all Sushiro stores in Thailand, from March 9 to April 5, you’ll find the following collaboration-exclusive Sushi/Drinks:
🍣 Meatball Gunkan (Chicken) (60฿)
🍣 Engawa Wasabi Wrap (60฿)
🍣 Tuna Yukke Mayo Cream Cheese Roll Tempura (80฿)
🍣 Big Slice Salmon w/ Salmon Roe (80฿)
🍹 Lightning Pop (120฿)
Side Note: Prices are inclusive of 10% Service Charge

Like many other collaboration cafes/restaurants, each order will also come with some collab goodies – details below!

🍣 Today’s Order 🍣

__________
🍣 Meatball Gunkan (Chicken) (60฿) 🍣

Chicken meatballs in a tomato-based glaze with some mayonnaise, served gunkan-style.
Sounds simple and not so heavy on the toppings, but I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful it was! The meatballs were juicy with a savory/pepper-forward profile to it. Add to that a darker sweet & salty tomato sauce and some mayonnaise, and you have a pretty nice-tasting combination – though a bit unorthodox.

Of the four, I’d say this one has the least value-for-money for its size & ingredients, but there’s no denying that the flavors here pack some good punch!
__________
🍣 Engawa Wasabi Wrap (60฿) 🍣

An open-face Temaki topped with Engawa in a wasabi-spring onion sauce.

The Engawa (Flounder Fin) was really nice here – slightly crunchy, and extremely rich – while the wasabi added a mellow, earthy, slightly pungent kick that’s not too overpowering.

A full-flavored, one-bite Temaki. Highly recommended if you want something on the stronger side.
__________
🍣 Tuna Yukke Mayo Cream Cheese Roll Tempura (80฿) 🍣

Venturing into deep-fried sushi territory, we have a cream cheese Maki, individually fried tempura-style, topped with some Yukke & Mayo chopped Maguro.

The Tuna is Sushiro’s usual Yukke Tuna (sweet/spicy Korean sauce + sesame oil) mixed with mayonnaise for some added creaminess.

As for the maki itself? Eat it while hot, and the slightly softened, slightly tangy cream cheese compliments the tempura coating very well.
It’s the most complex item on the collab menu, and a bit cumbersome to eat cleanly. But taste and value-wise, this one is very good!
__________
__________
🍣 Big Slice Salmon w/ Salmon Roe (80฿) 🍣

A variation of Sushiro Thailand’s seasonal “Big Slice Salmon Nigiri” – now topped with some Ikura.

Sushiro’s salmon has always been quite the standout among conveyor-style sushi in Thailand, so there’s no surprises in flavor here. Very fresh, slightly firm, and rich from all that fat (almost belly level!)
A bit pricey compared to the standard Salmon options. But with the included Sushiro Token, it’s a decent value!
__________
🍹 Lightning Pop (120฿) 🍹
(Pokéball Limited to 80,000 pcs.)

A Pikachu/Raichu-inspired drink – Fresh mango & pineapple syrup soda, topped with some popping candy.

Outside the fresh mango, the flavors were a bit on the lighter side – but it’s nonetheless still refreshing! (Though I think I didn’t get any popping candy today…)

Alongside the drink is a blindbox, featuring a (random) 7cm diameter Pokéball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, and Master Ball (Sushiro-branded too!)
Combined with the drink, it’s a pretty sweet deal! Good luck if you aim to collect all 4 types!

__________
✨ Free Collaboration Goods ✨
As part of the collaboration, you can get some free goodies during your visit. Here’s a checklist of the available items:
Sushiro Token
A6 Sticker Sheet
Pokémon TCG Promo Card
__________
🔴 Sushiro Token 🔴
(Limited 200,000 pcs.)

With every collab menu order, you’ll be given a random Sushiro Token, distributed in four different phases:
Phase 1 (March 9-15)
Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle
Phase 2 (March 16-22)
Eevee, Riolu, Raichu
Phase 3 (March 23-29)
Pikachu, Riolu, Venusaur
Phase 4 (March 30 – April 5)
Chikorita, Tepig, Totodile

My luck clearly wasn’t the best today – completely missing out on Squirtle, and getting a trio of Bulbasaur with my 4 pulls…

Unlike a paper coaster at other collab cafes, the (plastic) Tokens feel really high quality, and quite thick too!
__________
🔴 A6 Sticker Sheet 🔴
(Limited 200,000 pcs.)

While you’re there, follow Sushiro Thailand’s Instagram page and post a photo with the hashtag #SushiroTH. Let the staff know during checkout, and you’ll be given a sticker sheet of the following Pokémon:
Phase 1 (March 9-15)
Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle
Phase 2 (March 16-22)
Eevee, Lucario, Raichu
Phase 3 (March 23-29)
Pikachu, Riolu, Venusaur, Snorlax, Mantyke
Phase 4 (March 30 – April 5)
Chikorita, Tepig, Totodile, Lucario

__________
🔴 Secret Code: Pokémon TCG Promo Card 🔴
(Limited 100,000 pcs.)

For every 500฿ spent, relay the secret code “ฉันเลือกซูชิโร่!” (“Sushiro, I choose you!” – though not exactly like how Ash says it) to the staff during checkout, and receive a random Pokémon TCG Promo Card, featuring:
Pikachu
Poltchageist
Totodile
Pawniard
Tatsugiri (Curly Form)
I’m sure these will be in high demand, so make sure to head there and get some! (I hear the Pikachu one is Holo as well!)

Got Pawniard on my visit today… Looks like I’ll be back again for that Tatsugiri!

💬 Side Note: Collaboration Menu Accuracy 💬
If you’ve read my previous collaboration cafe/restaurant reviews, “Series Accuracy” is a metric that I weigh very heavily in my reviews. The Lightning Pop soda is an awesome reference to Pikachu/Raichu. But the other items? Not really. At best, they’re not immediately recognizable.
After a bit of thinking, the Salmon & Ikura seems to be based on Charmander, and the Meatball based on a Pokéball (Pretty neat if that’s the case.) And if we’re really reaching, the Tempura Roll with Maguro Yukke Mayo on top could be Bulbasaur, and the Wasabi Engawa topping on the hand roll could be Squirtle. But if it requires that much analyzing to figure out, most people probably wouldn’t get the reference.
This doesn’t affect the food in any way, since it’s just a cosmetic nitpick. Just something I thought about after seeing the lineup.
__________
🍣 “Bonus Menu: Tatsugiri Set” 🍣

Prefacing by saying that this isn’t an official collab dish. But it’s a shame that we didn’t get a menu based on Tatsugiri, the Sushi-inspired Pokémon, especially when it only features ingredients already available at Sushiro.
Maguro, Ebi, and Tamago Nigiri – topped with some Ikura if you prefer Mega Tatsugiri.

Hopefully we’ll get to see this someday! But for now, you gotta DIY it!

⭐VERDICT⭐

So how good is Sushiro Thailand x Pokémon Collaboration actually? Honestly? Quite good! By far the highlight has to be the merch, between the Pokéball, tokens, stickers, and Promo Cards. There’s lots to do here, and it really feels like a high-effort collab instead of the standard placemats and paper cutouts.
The collab menu, accuracy-wise, could be a bit better – but what’s available tastes good, and alongside the merch, is also pretty good value.
Overall, I had a great time here. And if you’re a Pokémon fan, I’m sure it’ll be enjoyable for you too. So if you’re around and would like to grab some great sushi alongside some exclusive Pokémon merch, then head over to Sushiro Thailand for their Pokémon collaboration!
