I’m in Hong Kong for the week, and in addition to re-visiting all my favorite Cha Chaan Teng and Egg Tart spots, a newly-opened spot in SoHo immediately caught my eye: a very budget-friendly Argentinian steakhouse with unlimited fries.
But how was the actual experience? What’s on the menu here? And is it worth the visit? Let’s get to it. How Good is La Parrilla Steakhouse Xpress Actually?

📋 Menu 📋

La Parrilla’s special “Grill & Save, Simple & Satisfying Menu” promotion features an Appetizer & Mains two-course set at a very affordable price of HK$118 for Lunch, and HK$148 for Dinner (+10% Service Charge)
In the course, you’ll get a Field Green Salad (or Baguette for an additional HK$38) and a choice of the following Main Course:
Filete de Cuadril (Rump Steak) 200g
Bife de Chorizo (Sirloin) 200g
Grilled Spatchcock Chicken
Crispy Golden Batter Wild Cod Fish
And to top it all off, all courses come with Unlimited Servings of French Fries!
I ordered one of everything during today’s visit, so let’s take a deeper dive into each course!
__________
🥗Field Green Salad 🥗

Starting with the salad – mixed greens, radish slices, and walnuts, tossed in a vinaigrette.
Very flavorful stuff with the slight acidity from the vinaigrette. Perfect as a lead-up for the richness of the next course.

🥩 Argentinian Premium Grass-Fed Beef 🥩
Filete de Cuadril (Rump) 200g
Bife de Chorizo (Sirloin) 200g

La Parrilla’s signature proteins – Argentinian Grass-Fed Rump & Sirloin Steak.
Between the two, your cut of choice will depend on what you’d like from a steak

Sirloin for a tender, lighter ‘classic’ steak experience

Rump for a heavier, more iron-like meaty profile.

Regardless of your choice, the beef was impressively flavored! The dry-aged beef had that characteristic concentrated beefy profile to it alongside some extra tenderness (the sirloin more so) – and would already make for an impressive dish.
Top that off with a strong charcoal-grilled aroma, and a heavy (but not overly salty) dose of seasoning, and you have a top-tier steak that’s easily the highlight of the meal.

At 200g per steak, it’s slightly smaller than what I’m used to at steakhouses. But as a lunch portion served with unlimited fries, and especially at this price point – I don’t have much to complain about!

Also served alongside their special Chimichurri Sauce for a bright, herby & slightly acidic kick!
__________
🐟 Crispy Golden Batter Wild Cod Fish 🐟

La Parrilla’s Fish Main Course features two pieces of battered cod served alongside some fries – Fish and Chips, essentially.

While probably not as impressive as the beef options at a glance, I was still really impressed with the dish. The cod was firm yet flaky, while the batter – on the thin side – provided some contrasting crunch, especially around the thicker parts.

Served with a creamy (lighter-style) Tartare Sauce and a slice of lemon, it’s a great alternative Main Course when you feel like getting a non-beef option.
__________
🍗 Grilled Spatchcock Chicken 🍗

Rounding off the Main Course selection is the Grilled (half) Spatchcock Chicken, sous-vide to temp, and finished on the grill for a crispy skin, smoky-aroma finish.
I wasn’t planning to go into too much detail here (hence the single photo,) but the dish was done really well! Great sear on the outside, with a surprisingly juicy interior – even on the breast! Combine that with the Chimichurri and French Fries, and you have a well-made, well-rounded course right here!
I’d still recommend the beef course during your visit, but if you feel like switching things up – this ain’t a bad dish to try out!

🍟 Unlimited French Fries 🍟

Now for what initially got me to visit this place – Unlimited French Fries.

And they do mean unlimited, as during the course of your meal, you’ll find staff members offering you more if they see an empty plate.

Being thin, shoestring-style fries, the added crunch brings a wonderful contrast to the heavier profiles of the beef.
Very generously seasoned, and a really addicting side to snack on while you enjoy the main protein.

Enjoy the fries by itself, with some ketchup, or with your main course’s Chimichurri or Tartare sauce – either way, make sure to fill up with a second, third (or more) serving!

Side Note: So I had the fries on the hotplate for the thumbnail. And while the bottom layer had turned slightly soggy from the beef juice, the flavors it absorbed were nothing short of magical – soaking up the intense beefy flavors from the beef and rendered fat, some extra seasoning, and a bit of smoke from the grill!
__________
🍰 Home Made Cheesecake (HK$38 Lunch / HK$68 Dinner) 🍰

A Basque-style Cheesecake with a (very fragrant) Dulce de Leche topping. Simple, but features some very powerful flavors!
__________
🍷 Drinks Menu 🍷

In addition to their courses, you’ll also find a selection of Wines, Beers, and the interesting “Viral Lionel Messi Drink” of Argentinian Red Wine and Sprite.

⭐VERDICT⭐

So how good is La Parrilla Steakhouse Xpress actually? Man, it’s fantastic! The main courses from the seasoning to the sear were done exceptionally well, and can easily rival many full-service steakhouses. And when you factor in the price point, very few can even come close to the same value-for-money. (And did I mention unlimited French Fries?)
So if you’re around Hong Kong and are in the mood for a high-quality steakhouse experience that’s also very budget-friendly, then head on over to La Parrilla Steakhouse Xpress !

💬 Final Words 💬
I wasn’t planning to add a Hong Kong tab to my site at all… But with how much of a surprise this meal turned out to be, so much that I came back a few days later for more, I felt like I needed to do a review of this restaurant!
